As a vertical, the SectorReport Defense combines elements from other sectors such as Industrials, TMT and Mobility and is aimed specifically at medium-sized decision-makers and investors. As an experienced M&A consultancy, our focus is primarily on how market participants can succeed in entering the segment and what valuations are called for here.In our first sector report, we focus the sector insight on market segmentation and present the takeover of a supplier for ammunition production by Rheinmetall AG as well as other takeovers. The topics of defense, security and defense against cyberattacks are high on society's agenda and will continue to grow in the coming years, with the discussion about the level of relevant military spending of 2 to 5% of GDP in particular set to drive the market in the future.
 
From an M&A perspective, however, it remains to be seen whether this will also be reflected in the transaction market - the number of targets is limited and the field of relevant players is narrow. The difficulty of the sale of ThyssenKrupp's marine division in particular clearly shows that the tasks involved are complex. Nonetheless, there have been numerous deals and rumours in recent months concerning IVECO Defense, Helsing and Rheinmetall, which we will be looking at in the coming months, and we hope that this new format will provide you with a basis of information that can serve as a starting point for entering a growing and upcoming leading market.
